Breathe in. Breathe out.

Don’t worry — you’re in the right place, even if your sibling is alive. The Dead Sibling Society welcomes all members and allies, because – let’s be honest – we can’t really afford to be selective with who we allow in our circle. We’re already down a few key people.

Life can be heavy & it can be hard. No one is more familiar with this than someone who has experienced loss or pain. Talking about it is the only thing I’ve found that makes it easier, and with that in mind, I’m on a mission to talk about everything here — the hard, the ugly, the painful, but also the beautiful, and the joyful, and the magical, and everything in between. The more we talk about it, the braver we’ll become.

I think bravery is the key. Loss and grief and pain try to steal your bravery — they tell you that the world is scary (it is) and that you have everything to lose (you do). But I think being confronted with those truths gives you the power to choose to live bravely anyway. And once you’ve made that choice — to love people deeply even though you know you’ll lose them someday, to let yourself be so happy even though you know it could all be taken away in an instant — you’ve unlocked the real power of the human experience: to know it is temporary, and to throw ourselves wildly at it anyway.

We’ll unlock the free and beautiful existence we deserve when we stop being so afraid and start living with our hearts wide open, accepting that we’ll face great pain, but also immeasurable joy. That’s what you’ll find here — reckless vulnerability that I hope will give you permission to show up however and wherever you are on your journey through the human experience. At the end of the day, we’re all on the same team. We’re all just walking each other home.
